It is time for the next version of Carmelo Anthony’s signature sneaker. The new model is called Melo M9, and right off the bat you can spot the differences. First thing to notice is the entirely new lacing system combined with Flywire technology. It was designed to cooperate with the midfoot shank to provide forefoot, midfoot and heel lockdown. The shoe hugs around your foot as you lace it up, and keeps it in one place, giving support. As far as the ventilation is concerned the shoe offers some air flow, mostly due to the strap-like construction. The inside of the Melo M9 features a foam lining that feels almost like a sock and will absorb some of the heat and moisture. The cushioning is provided by two Zoom Air units. First one, low-profile bottom-loaded is located in the forefoot and offers responsiveness, while the other one, top-loaded 10mm unit provides a huge amount of comfort and resilience. Melo M9’s outsole features a herringbone pattern that allows multidirectional movement without any slippage. You may have a feeling that these look bulk and heavy but the simple fact is that the whole shoe is flexible, so it doesn’t restrict movement and yet supportive, so that it can keep up with a big guy.
